Understanding Item Rarities
What do item colors mean? Learn about rarity tiers and how they affect stats and crafting.
The Rarity System
Items in ARC Raiders are categorized by rarity, indicated by color. Higher rarity generally means better stats, but also higher costs to craft and more valuable if lost Topside.
Rarity Tiers
Common (Gray)
The most basic tier. Easy to find and craft. Perfect for beginners or throw-away loadouts. Low stats but also low investment.
Uncommon (Green)
A step up from common. Noticeable stat improvements with moderate crafting costs. Good balance of performance and affordability.
Rare (Blue)
Mid-tier equipment. Significant stat boost over lower tiers. Starting to require more specialized materials and higher Workshop levels to craft.
Epic (Purple)
High-end gear. Excellent stats and often better mod slots. Expensive to craft and painful to lose. Use when you mean business.
Legendary (Orange)
The best of the best. Top-tier stats and unique properties. Note: Legendary weapons cannot be upgraded at the Gunsmith. Very rare to find and extremely expensive to craft.
Rarity and Crafting
Higher rarity items require:
- More materials overall
- Rarer material types from the Refiner
- Higher Workshop station levels
- Sometimes specific blueprints found Topside
Strategic Considerations
- Risk vs Reward: Don't bring Legendary gear to a casual loot run
- Match your loadout: Mix rarities based on the situation
- Protect your investment: Higher rarity = play more carefully
- Know when to upgrade: Master common gear before investing in rare
